Golf in Costa del Sol
The Costa del Sol is the most famous and popular stretch of coastline in Southern Spain. Malaga, Marbella and Sotogrande are the main areas renowned for their excellent golf courses and vibrant nightlife. Malaga offers a great all-round Spanish experience and is perfect for families. We would recommend staying at La Cala Golf Resort as it has three breath-taking courses and is the largest golf resort in Spain, so it will certainly have a lot to offer onsite. If you fancy a little excursion from the all-encompassing resort then a round at Chaparral Golf Club is a must.

Marbella & Puerto Banus is certainly the best destination for a lad’s golf holiday if the 19th hole is just as important as the 18 holes before it. This wealthy area boasts the Golden Mile strip which comes alive during the day and especially at night. With its countless beach clubs and bars, Marbella is for the golfers that like to party.

Sotogrande is a tranquil and therapeutic resort town which is designed for the super-rich to experience pure luxury. It is home to no other than the famous Andalucía Masters which is hosted by Sergio Garcia at the world renowned Valderrama Golf Club.

Golf in Costa de la Luz
The Costa de la Luz sits between the two golf destination powerhouses of the Costa del Sol and the Algarve which means it has some very strong competition. However, it has not had vast amounts of investment into its tourism sector which leads it to being able to offer a truly authentic Spanish experience and an unspoiled landscape. The Costa de la Luz is the Spanish’s best kept secret.

The two main provinces that offer Golf are Huelva and Cadiz which are both very relaxed and easy going. The Huelva region borders Portugal’s infamous Algarve, so it has taken some inspiration from their neighbour. The two best resorts in the area are the El Rompido and Islantilla Resort which offer fantastic accommodation aswell as superb golf courses. There are many excellent Golf clubs in the area also to take excursions to. La Monacilla and Bellavista are glorious courses and are a must if in the Huelva region.

Further down the Spanish coastline sits Cadiz, the historical port city has a rich cultural history and is very authentic. Furthermore, it is also home to some fabulous Golf Courses and resorts. Barcelo Montecastillo is the standout resort and course in the area. It offers 5 star facilities and the course is touted to be Spain’s answer to Wentworth. It is also designed by golfing legend, Jack Nicklaus.

La Manga is the most all-encompassing resort in the area, boasting three championship courses and a 5-star hotel and spa experience. it is truly like a town itself with the land covering 560 hectares. It is no wonder they have won European Golf Resort of the Year on numerous occasions.

Golf in Girona
The area of Girona is in the north-eastern part of Spain, residing in the Catalonia district which is very different geographically and culturally from Spain’s southern golfing district.

In this area resides The PGA Catalunya Resort. It is a spectacular and luxurious resort which offers 5 star hospitality aswell as the Stadium Course which is one of the best courses in Spain. It also has a second course named the Tour Course which is less demanding. It is the standout resort of this area. It is also only a 10-minute drive from Girona Airport which makes it very accessible and convenient. The Emporda Golf & Hotel Resort is the lesser known of the two in the area but it still provides first class facilities and two spectacular courses to play in the Links and Forrest Course.
