Golf in Costa de la Luz
The Costa de la Luz sits between the two golf destination powerhouses of the Costa del Sol and the Algarve which means it has some very strong competition. However, it has not had vast amounts of investment into its tourism sector which leads it to being able to offer a truly authentic Spanish experience and an unspoiled landscape. The Costa de la Luz is the Spanish’s best kept secret.

The two main provinces that offer Golf are Huelva and Cadiz which are both very relaxed and easy going. The Huelva region borders Portugal’s infamous Algarve, so it has taken some inspiration from their neighbour. The two best resorts in the area are the El Rompido and Islantilla Resort which offer fantastic accommodation aswell as superb golf courses. There are many excellent Golf clubs in the area also to take excursions to. La Monacilla and Bellavista are glorious courses and are a must if in the Huelva region.

Further down the Spanish coastline sits Cadiz, the historical port city has a rich cultural history and is very authentic. Furthermore, it is also home to some fabulous Golf Courses and resorts. Barcelo Montecastillo is the standout resort of the area and is on the outskirts of Jerez. On the coastline sits some lovely resorts, notedly the Barcelo Costa Ballena and Iberostar Royal Andalus resorts.

Golf in Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca coastline is renowned for its lively nightlife and fantastic landscape which is perfect for golf holidays. The region can be split up into three main areas for golf.

Firstly, the Orihuela area covers the beginning of the Valencian border up towards a stretch of 25 miles. La Finca & Las Colinas Resorts are both well regarded and reside in this location. There is a high concentration of golf courses in the area considering it's size. The Orihuela region is very close to Murcia, which in turn makes it very easy to mix and match golf courses from both areas. This option can create a more varied golf package for you which will enhance your golf holiday.

The Alicante area consists of three parts. Firstly you have the golf resorts and courses near Alicante city centre. This is a perfect option if you want to be able to have easy access to the city and are looking for a more authentic Spanish experience. A 35 minute drive up the coast will bring you to the second area for a golfing trip which is the infamous Benidorm. If you are looking for an extreme party atmosphere then this is a good option. You have an excellent resort in Melia Villaitana which sits on the outskirts of Benidorm centre. It is a smart way to balance the craziness of Benidorm as the resort is great to relax in. A further 40 minute drive up the coast brings you to the more tranquil area of Denia which is home to Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort.

The final stop of this spectacular coastline is the Valencia area. There is not as many golf options here but there is one standout resort. Parador de El Saler Resort is a luxurious complex and is only a 25 minute drive to the city centre. El Bosque Golf Club is also a great excursion to experience.

Golf in Murcia
Murcia is in close proximity to the Costa Blanca, however it has a golfing identity of its own. There are over 20 courses within a 30-mile radius. The weather is, as expected, fantastic and with recent developments within the area it certainly offers lots to do for holiday goers.

La Manga is the most all-encompassing resort in the area, boasting three championship courses and a 5-star hotel and spa experience. It is truly like a town in itself with the land covering 560 hectares. It is no wonder they have won European Golf Resort of the Year on numerous occasions.

The Murcia inland consists of spectacular Mediterranean mountain backdrops and El Valle Golf has taken advantage of these features with its unique courses which were designed by yours truly, Jack Nicklaus. If you want a mix of Spanish coastline and some breath-taking inland landscape then Murcia is the place for your next golfing holiday.

Golf in Costa Brava
The area of Costa Brava is in the north-eastern part of Spain, residing in the Catalonia district which is very different geographically and culturally from Spain’s southern golfing district. The best resorts and courses of this region are located in and around the city of Girona.

In this area resides Camiral Golf & Wellness Resort. It is a spectacular and luxurious resort which offers 5 star hospitality aswell as the Stadium Course which is one of the best courses in Spain. It also has a second course named the Tour Course which is less demanding. It is the standout resort of this area. It is also only a 10-minute drive from Girona Airport which makes it very accessible and convenient. The Emporda Golf & Hotel Resort is the lesser known of the two in the area but it still provides first class facilities and two spectacular courses to play in the Links and Forrest Course.

Girona is also only a 40 minute train journey from the bustling beach city of Barcelona. A day trip or two to see the Catalonian capital is a must.
